The Los Angeles County Arts Education Collective is a public-private, collective impact initiative dedicated to making the arts a core part of every child’s growth and development.
Established in 2002 by the LA County Board of Supervisors, the Arts Ed Collective works to advance goals and strategies outlined in the new LA County Regional Blueprint for Arts Education. With a commitment to prioritizing resources for youth historically excluded from learning in the arts, the initiative supports regional efforts to expand school-based arts education, community-based arts education, learning and leadership among practitioners and advocates, creative career pathways for youth, research and evaluation, and public awareness about the value of arts education.
The Arts Ed Collective is comprised of policy makers, educators, arts organizations, teaching artists, funders, business leaders and community advocates. Strategic direction for the initiative is guided by the Leadership Council and Funders Council. The Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture coordinates the initiative, and the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) provides curriculum and instructional services for educators Countywide.
Collective Impact
Collective impact is an approach to addressing complex challenges by coordinating the efforts of diverse stakeholders around a common goal.
The Arts Ed Collective employs an inclusive leadership structure that engages funders, policymakers and practitioners. Partners stimulate cross-sector dialogue that lead to well informed, field-driven strategies for promoting system-wide progress on advancing arts education.
